Where the puff number comes from
Manufacturers rate puff counts on a machine under lab conditions: short, gentle draws of roughly one to three seconds, taken at fixed intervals with a small, consistent puff volume. Those numbers are technically accurate — for the machine. The problem is that nobody vapes like a machine. Real people take longer, harder pulls, chain a few in a row, and vape more when stressed or drinking. Every one of those habits pulls more liquid and more battery per puff than the test allows.
The industry rule of thumb, and the one our own reorder data backs up, is that most people see somewhere between half and two-thirds of the rated number in real use. So a 3500-puff device realistically lands nearer 1800–2300 puffs for an average vaper, and more if your draws are short and tight.
The one honest way to estimate lifespan
Forget the marketing figure and do this instead. Halve the rated puff count, then divide by how many puffs you take a day. That gives a realistic day count.
- Light user: around 50–100 puffs a day (social, occasional).
- Moderate user: around 150–200 puffs a day — where most adults land.
- Heavy user: 300+ puffs a day (a former pack-a-day habit).

E-liquid volume is the real ceiling
The millilitre figure is the honest limiter — when the liquid runs dry, the device is done. As a general guide, 1mL of e-liquid yields roughly 250–300 puffs at an average draw. More mL almost always means more real vaping, regardless of the puff sticker.
Battery, and whether it recharges
On a non-rechargeable device the battery has to outlast the liquid, so a flat battery with juice left is wasted product. Rechargeable devices with a USB-C port dodge this entirely: the battery stops being the limiter, so you get closer to the full liquid capacity.
